In collaboration with Soonsalon visual artist Barbara Broekman developed five wallpapers, which are direct derivatives of her autonomous work. By enlarging and repeating details of the original works, a new dynamic, monumental image takes shape – applicable to all possible locations. The foundation of these wallpapers lays in four crafts: weaving, embroidering, painting and collage. In her wallpapers the craftsmanship involved in producing the work is still tangible, which is essential to Broekman. The organic imperfection that comes with handicraft and the amount of time it takes, are antidotes for the superficiality of our time.
